You know you are halfway across the world when...

-You are ready to leave for a trip but don’t want to leave until you get a chance to wipe all the mold off of your refrigerator doors, your refrigerator magnets, your laminated pictures of your family….

-You wait eagerly for the rain each day and the cooling that it brings.

-You stick your flour in the freezer for two days after buying it to kill the bugs!

-Mangoes, papaya, pineapples and bananas are your kids’ favorite fruits.

-You have 9 giant toads that live under your kids’ play crate (don’t worry, they only come out after dark, and even then they don’t move very often!)

-You have a pretty good estimation of exactly how long it will take your clothes to dry on the line according to the humidity, amount of sunshine and wind on any given day!

We have MUCH to give thanks for this week:
-We have God’s Word in our language and it is easily accessible to us, speaking to our hearts daily.
-We are able to spend Thanksgiving with my sister, Emily Reed, at New Tribes Mission’s central base in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. We are rediscovering what it feels like to wear jeans and sweatshirts as it is much, much cooler here than in Madang!
-We have had good health over our past two months in Papua New Guinea.
-Nate passed his first language check and has officially moved from “Basic” level to “Progressing” level – Hooray! We are both enjoying language study very much.
-Emails and packages, and most of all the prayers of dear friends and family at home – encouragement to keep us going when we feel lonely or perplexed or overwhelmed.
