Some Things Are Universal...
...like making faces in the mirror (or into some nearby video camera). This week I (Nate) have had the project of recording the life story of one of my friends here in the village. I decided to bring the video camera along to capture Thomas (age 45) telling stories about his youth and growing up. Thomas and I sat down with a group of boys outside his house for our conversation and I set the camera on a tripod. Thomas was well into a story about when he first learned how to shoot a bow and arrow well when one of the boys came to the realization that the camera shows everything that it sees on its small LCD screen. In his mind, he was on TV!
I was amazed as he immediately set to work alternately making faces and motioning to his buddies to come over and watch the camera screen. He carried on for 10 minutes - standing slightly back so as to be undetected by Thomas who was earnestly telling me story after story. Since video files are so big, I've only been able to put a small portion of his antics online. We hope you enjoy them...
This week you can be praying for:

This week you can be praying for:
- Elizabeth as she eases into more extended periods of intense language study.
- Elias as he needs to be continually reminded what kinds of things whoudl and should not be eaten (Bad to eat: bugs, chalk, grass, dust bunnies, things found on the floor, shoe laces, legos.... Good to eat: lunch? dinner? "Come on buddy, those legos are dense, but they are not the right kind of calories....")
- Tim as he struggles with the realization that he can't quite keep up with Noah, but would sure like to. (I guess that puts Elias in for the double whammy trying to keep up with both of them...)
- Noah as he learns responsibility and caring.
- Nate as he pursues relationships and finishing culture study requirements.
