We interrupt this newsletter for a flash quiz... Coffee is the prize... Details below....

We have been in Papua New Guinea for eight months as of Tuesday and to celebrate, we plan to eat some of the strange things that we have never tried before. It has been our ambition to do something of an Iron Chef: PNG while here, but we have been so busy with language learning and our jobs that we have had a hard time putting an episode together (read: we have been trying to get up enough courage to try some of the stranger items...) Here is one example: Grass Jelly Drink. We plan on drinking some of this concoction along with our saksak very shortly.

Here is the deal, we will subject ourselves to this experiment but would like to make it more of a group participation thing. Thus, the first person to respond to this update with at least three health benefits of grass jelly will receive a 12oz package of fresh, high-quality, Elimbari Coffee direct from PNG. Note: sources should be cited - ie: no making something up just to get a coffee fix.

Our prayer requests this week are:
  • Multiplied time - we have a house to pack, three courses left to plan, the finance office to take care of along with three growing boys.
  • Wisdom - in order to determine the real need in Mibu, we have been talking with other organizations who are working in that general area. Politics being what they are, we hope to speak wise words as well as to hear clearly the thinking of these other groups.
  • Encouragement - being busy and preparing to move is hard in that we are not as able to get out and spend time with the friends that we have made here, folks who have shared their lives with us. We find that it is time spent with them that seems to give us the energy to do the other work that we have. We know it is only for a season.
  • PRAISE: we have been continuing to hear from folks in Mibu who were encouraged by our visit and are interested in growing that partnership.
  • PRAISE: Elias is responding better and better to discipline
  • PRAISE: School for Noah has been going great - Tim is even having a good time learning some of the things.
Thanks so very much for your continued partnership and prayers.
Nate for the family
