All at once...
Surrounded by peers (instead of being the only one)…
I was thinking this week about some of my eighth graders – 2/3 of whom are new to the classroom setting (not to mention boarding school). For the first time in their lives, they are not living with mom and dad. Can you imagine the shock to their systems? It is only harder for them when the strains of social or academic struggle are added in to the mix.

We would appreciate your prayers here because we are not just teachers, but part of a larger network of mentors and caretakers. It is a HUGE responsibility. We don’t just teach math and science, we teach life - life lived with Jesus. This week Elizabeth began meeting with some of the young ladies here in a discipleship group. She is feeling both the joy and the weight of leading and teaching. Will you pray for her as she continues to interact and engage these girls?
It has been hammered home to us again and again over the course of the last weeks how important the job of MK educators is. One father was sharing with me the other day how in his village, some of the unbelievers have marked his daughter (15 years old) as a witch (sanguma). What this means in practical terms is that anyone could kill her with no repercussion. This is not an isolated story. Many, many missionary parents here in PNG are caught in the difficult situation of bringing the truth to those who otherwise would not have it and seeing their maturing children put in danger. Please pray for the kids, the families, and our co-workers here at the school base.
Please pray for us too as we parent our kids, for Nate's knee as it has been fairly painful for a couple of weeks (yeah, basketball...), and for our meetings this week (we are looking into taking some trips to gather information on some relatively unknown people groups in the Adelbert Range).
