Term 1: Survival

We are emerging from our first term at Numonohi Christian Academy with thankful hearts and tired brains. It has been a great 9 weeks of school and the campus feels very quiet as many students have flown out to spend the three week break with their parents in various tribal locations. Check out our picture of four of Nate’s students dressed up for Papua New Guinea’s Independence day celebration last week! These are awesome kids that we enjoy so much. Nate and the rest of the staff are wrapping up final grades and in-service days.
On Wednesday morning (that would be Tuesday afternoon for those of you in North America!) we’ll pile into a four-wheel drive vehicle and embark on a six-hour drive from our mountain location down to Madang region for our yearly conference. Since we’ve been here in PNG, we’ve flown in little planes fairly often and even had the privilege of taking the helicopter into one of the tribal locations we visited, but our boys are most excited about this car trip! They love cars but we ride in them only rarely these days!

***Update*** Due to internet issues, this post actually is going up after the car trip… FYI: we found out the hard way that Elias and Tim get very car sick (the only rest stop is about 2.5 hours into the trip). Please be praying with us for our return trip. We will be looking for some Dramamine.

During the next two weeks we will:
-be a part of the yearly conference of NTM missionaries in the Madang region of Papua New Guinea, hearing from tribal missionaries about what God is doing through His Word at work in these new churches!
-take a three-day break as a family near the ocean
-spend some intensive time talk, praying and planning with the Lockwood family, whom we hope to partner with in tribal work.
Thank you for praying for us! Some specific requests:
-for safety as we travel along a beautiful but bumpy road (9/23 and 10/3 are our driving dates)
-for insight and clear communication and we plan and pray together with our partners.
-for rest and encouragement for our family after a very busy season.
