Shocking News...
This week we have a special message for all of our teacher friends out there... Come to Papua New Guinea and teach (where, if you teach a science class, you can have the students build stun guns and take out their frustrations on each other!)
Yes, it is true, as a final project for physics this year, the class disassembled disposable cameras, collected various pieces from the circuit boards, built minature shockers, and proceeded to zzzaaappp each other repeatedly (try that in public school).
True Story #1: Since it has taken a couple of days for many of the students to get the circuit right, a regular occurence in physics lab is to hear the following sequence: 'Ooooowwwww! Woooohoooo!' which basically means that a student built the circuit successfully, but found out the hard way...
True story #2: One of the students (a senior, of course) could not stop giggling as she pursued victims throughout the school.
We have some video that is sure to give you a jolt or two as well, but are having trouble uploading it right now... stay tuned.
Things to pray for this week:
- Multiplied time - all of the work that we have to do these next weeks as we finish school, prepare for a move to Madang (and jumping right into building projects for the Fall) seems to be an impossible mountain right now.
- Family stability - with all that we have to do, we have seen our kids dealing with extra stress and transition.
- Pray for our plans as we look to move into Pal in the Fall: finances, relationships, and our search for a third family to fill out the team. We so want to make wise decisions in this hectic time.
- Nate as he dodges student's attempts to get him to experience electric current firsthand and seeks to maintain some of the relationships that have begun this year.
- Praise - our complete solar-electric system (that we ordered in January) made it here safely yesterday!
- Praise - Elizabeth is running again and feeling good doing it!
Again, thanks so much to you all, our friends and partners in this work in PNG. We so appreciate you all.
Nate for the family
