Perfect Timing

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. - Ephesians 3:20

"Dad, my favorite music is Rock'n'Roll...like Psalty the Singing Songbook." - Tim

Isn't it nice to know that God's timing is always perfect? It is something that He has really been reinforcing in our lives lately. We have been working so hard together with our partners to get ready to move into Pal and begin language learning there - ever in front of us is the urgency of the task - that we have been feeling a bit ragged. Now God has stepped in and slowed things down for us, not just in one way, but in three or four. It was hard to accept at first, but we are already seeing great things come together.

Here is what happened (and how you can be praying for us)

When we finished the building trip in September, we left houses that are ready for our families to move into (not complete by any means, but in the dry and able to collect rain water). Our tentative plans were to attend our regional conference, work on as many of the interior details as we could, and then move in as families in November.

The first indicator that God would have us wait a little was that our family was really, very, truly, tired. Beginning last October, we had been working days, evenings, and weekends to continue regular ministry and ready ourselves for the move to Pal. We felt the need to carefully plan our time so that our family will be able to transition to Pal more easily.

Secondly, a situation has come up for our partners. On our building trip, Mason began to suffer from steady wrist pain which hs since worsened. He is currently unable to use his right hand and will need surgery. We are seeking the Lord for the timing and location of the surgery. It really is not feasible for him to move into a bush location without the use of his hand.

One final concern for us is that we will need some time to save up for the move in to Pal. We have been careful, but have used all of our savings for the initial building trip and materials.

While we are waiting, we have already seen God faithfully and abundantly provide for and direct us in rich relationships with our partners, with Pal visitors, and technical details for the work.

Will you pray with us that He would use this time to:
  • Heal Mason's hand and restore his strength.
  • Direct our steps as we communicate with the Pal people and develop supply lines for our time there.
  • Provide another missionary family for the Pal work.
  • Grow us in dependence on Him daily and in discipleship
  • Provide the funds necessary for us to move in.
  • Direct our lives so that we are balanced and effective both in the home and in the community here.
  • That we would wait on the Lord to accomplish the work in His perfect timing (and that we would be ready when He says 'Go!')
Thanks so very much for your partnership.
