After a Long Silence

So, have you ever wondered if those monks who take vows of silence were just tired of speaking? Obviously, they don’t usually have three short persons running around  the house so they might find it a rare occasion to shout “Keep the sharp end away from your eye!” more than three times in a given 5 minute span. Maybe they just don’t have lots to say. Or maybe (as in our case) they just haven’t had lots of time to process all that has been going on and they need a few short decades to think about what would be worth communicating.

So, what is going on?

Well for us, (since our last post) we have been in 7 states and a province. We’ve seen lots of people that we’d love to see more of, and more than enough of the insides of vehicles and airports. Now, we are settling for a bit in Humboldt County, CA for a bit and we are catching our breath. We’ll be sharing in churches, spending time helping family and friends, and beginning to make plans for the move back to PNG in two and a half short months.

For the work in Pal, things are just getting restarted. Our partners have been back in New Guinea for a couple of weeks and are moving back into the village next week. We are excited for them to renew their efforts at relationship building and language learning. You can be praying for the transition for their family as well.

Things to be thankful for:

-        A place to settle for a bit

-        Provision for our airfare to LAX (yeah, being stranded in the terminal in Kansas City for hours wasn’t exactly joyful, but hey, we got home and our luggage enjoyed its tour of the country – or so it claimed when we saw it next.)

-        People who have expressed their commitment and care for us and the Pal work

-        Low pollen counts this week. (Noah has been the saddest looking boy that I’ve seen since my cousin Geoff got poison oak and his face… well… you get the picture.)

-        Purpose, strength, and love from a God who meets us daily and personally.

You are all much in our hearts and prayers.

Nate for the family
