Evaluated

In two days we will be joined here in Pal by two men who have already done that which we are working at. It is their job to evaluate our progress and to help us all move ahead more efficiently. I don’t know about you but laying a year’s work on the line has us both excited and also biting our fingernails. In the work that we do, there is so little of measurable nature in the day to day that to get a favorable evaluation of progress in language and culture acquisition would be a tasty treat. I mean, really, I can come home at the end of the day and say “I think I said more things right than I could have last week”, and “I acted like a follower of Jesus in a remote tribal culture today (not sure how it went over…).” but it is awfully hard to put a number on the big picture church planting progress.

At the same time, evaluation can be painful in that it highlights areas of weakness and need. Would you pray with us over the next week that each of the four days we spend with the guys would teach us exactly what the Lord has for us to learn – and that we’d have the humility and desire to hear it all. Thanks.

Tim rocks the jungle in crocs. He and I went to visit a friend and had a little father-son time on the way home.

Partnership

This week we are also reminded of how precious believer’s fellowship is as we are temporarily without it. Our partners continue to be exploring medical issues and as such they are unable to be with us here in the bush. We are unsure of the timeframe, but we hope and pray for quick resolution and return of the Lockwoods to their house just up the hill. You can continue to pray for our kids as well as they feel the void of peer playmates very intensely.
