Hunger

This is one of the Pal believers. Evelago is excited about the gospel and, as a respected man in the community, he is in a good position to influence others for the truth.

I’d get more work done if… wait, this is my job!

Friday morning was supposed to be a fairly typical morning for us; school for the kids, team bounce and office time for me. That was what we’d planned and it pretty much worked out that way. The thing is that  I was supposed to be preparing the lesson and handouts for our Sunday believer’s meeting. That was what I was supposed to be doing but new Pal believers kept coming by and interrupting me. Can you believe it!? (implied sarcasm)

Here are hungry young believers who are excited to just be encouraged again in the simple, powerful, awesome truths of scripture. Things only slowed down when our friends had to go take care of hungry children or were worried about getting home and settled before the big rains in the afternoon. Our conversation was peppered with phrases like “It is all done!” and “He loves me!” and “I was stubborn and against Him but He sent Jesus.”

Let me tell you, our hearts are encouraged but we are concerned at the intensity of the pace. Our believers have really grabbed on to the idea that God’s Word is food for them. They are constantly saying to us. “Our mouths are empty, give us more good food.” Keeping up is our hearts desire and will take some real creativity to make sure that we are making the most of each day. Doing discipleship in larger groups or at regular times will indeed help. At the same time, individual discipleship is where we have experienced the most personal growth ourselves and we’d hope to do as much of that as possible as well. Please be praying with us as we pour ourselves into our friends.

This young man Solop has expressed a quiet eagerness to hear the truth. When he spoke to me the other day it was with intense personal joy in the freedom of the gospel.

Thanks.

All of these times of fellowship with excited friends have given us a real appreciation again for the grace that we find in the Lord. We pray that your Thanksgiving is not just full of tradition or joy in good food and great fellowship, but it is also full of joy in a Strong Deliverer, the one who planned from the beginning to rescue us all.

Gratefully,

Nate for the family

O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations. Psalm 77:13-14
