Borderlands
*A Repeated Request*
There are more than 1,500 Mesi people here in the Adelbert Mountains,
and of those, about 1/6 have heard the full Creation to Christ
curriculum. So, just in terms of evangelistic teaching, there is still
much to do here in Mesi-land. Of course we are not just about giving
people access to the gospel, we are disciple-making and church
planting.
So, this week, when representatives from the closest related language
group came and requested literacy and Bible teaching, we really had
mixed feelings. On the one hand isn't it just fantastic that others are
expressing a desire for that which we so want to give them? On the
other hand, *who will go there and work with the Kovol people?*
We have been scratching our heads just to figure out how to enable the
Mesi-church to take the good news to its own brothers and sisters.
How/when will be able to turn our attention further along the range?st
Will you pray with us for laborers for the Kovol and Kuyu people
groups? We'd love to see missionaries go and begin learning language
and culture there now so that in a couple of years, when the Mesi
church is more ready, there can be a joint outreach into those
Borderlands.
As you pray, please remember that we have baptized beliveers who are
originally from Kuyu. Their mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles are
on their minds.
*Life in the Stretching*
Although we have not written too much on the blog lately, it is not
true that not much has been happening here in Mesi-land. We are
challenged in every area of life - and often find that we are more in
need of grace than ever before. We are fighting old false superstitions
almost constantly, nearly everyone in our local community has had the
flu over the last two weeks, many of the most faithful men are engaged
in other work temporarily, and, since we live in a place where things
just fall apart, we've had a bit of that going on as well.
Please take special time this week to pray with us as we prepare a
special lesson on husband-wife relationships. This is a super-needful
lesson for our believers and we are praying that what we teach is a
clear and helpful beginning to more full teaching that we hope to do
this spring.
Thanks so much for faithfully standing by us,
Nate for us Cs
PS: The photo that we put up with this post - if it makes it - is of
some of our trained literacy school teachers. Pretty cool huh?
