March...Madness?
Hey all, hopefully March isn't madly crazy! We are off to a good start and we're thanking Him for the privilege of living and serving here in Papua New Guinea. Here are a few things you can pray about for & with us:
March 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31st (US time, for our prayer team in located at that time zone!!) Pal Bible teachers will meet and spend time together each week. They will review what they're learning and teaching from Scripture and talk about how best to encourage other newer believers. Please pray that their hearts will be hungry to know and serve God faithfully, and that their hearts won't be swayed by lies or temptations.
March 7, 14, 21, & 28th (US time) Pray for the Pal medical team as they do medical work on these dates. Praise Him with us that some of the team were able to meet up with believers from another tribal area and purchase new life-saving medications (like basic antibiotics and anti-malarial drugs) from a pharmacy in town. A local hospital even donated some medications for the program! Pray that the medical team will serve and love the community well and that any hindrances to long-term sustainability will be uncovered and resolved quickly.
March 5 We will meet with Fachners and Hostetters to talk about the 'health of the church' evaluation that our friends Aaron and Jos helped walk through last month. Please pray that we will have wisdom as we look ahead to the best ways to challenge and support the young church.
March 15-19 Nate will travel to our training center for new missionaries to the field and will teach a number of modules on various topics relating to church planting. Pray with us that his words would be careful, wise and encouraging.
March 19-23 The Senior class hopes to serve the Kuman church by helping finish the structure they currently meet in! The Kuman tribe is one of the largest in Papua New Guinea - nearly a quarter of a million people speak the Kuman language. The New Testament is complete, but the church is suffering from a lack of godly Kuman men to shepherd and teach. Please pray that God will raise up believing Kuman men and women to serve the church. Pray that we, along with the 12th grade students, will serve the church and the missionaries well!
March 23-30 School break for our teens. During the break, we need to work on sorting and packing our home in preparation for our home assignment in June. Please pray with us that the Lord will provide tickets for our return, even with all the Covid craziness affecting travel.
And some ongoing prayer requests:
*Pray with us for our transition to the US: four of us will stay for our home assignment and one of us will be settling in the USA. Noah has been accepted at several colleges, but we aren't sure yet what his choice will be.
*Pray that I (Elizabeth) will be healthy again - I spent most of the month of February sick with a mild but very drawn out stomach/nausea/headache bug, recovered, and then came down with a bad cold. Nothing earth-shaking but certainly annoying when I love serving and spending time with people!
*Pray that we'll love and care for our area missionaries well. We have a lot of teams that just have one family in their remote location right now. This can be a lonely and stressful time - we want to come alongside these families with loving care.
