Patient Patience

What are the Claasens up to these days? Well, hopefully the pictures up above are worth
a thousand words. Noah, lucky guy*, had
all four wisdom teeth removed this week and spent three days on the couch,
swollen and swilling cold liquids.**
I (Elizabeth) underwent surgery last week in San
Francisco. A great surgeon used
microtools to inspect the areas that have been giving me grief; she removed
mild endometriosis and diagnosed adenomyosis, pelvic congestion syndrome, and
bladder leukoplakia. Phew, that’s surely
TMI. Thankfully you can choose to remain
ignorant of any or all of those issues unless you happen to have a medical dictionary
handy. My surgery recovery has been
great but was punctuated with a post-surgery infection. Back off my feet again. Yes, God is growing the patience of the medical patient in me!
Nate’s role as caretaker for the walking wounded in the house has certainly filled his time, but he’s continued on with responsibilities related to his director role in Papua New Guinea. He applied for a substitute teaching role at the high school our younger boys will attend this fall, and was asked to teach several Bible classes. While he won’t be able to do that for the entire semester – he has other work he’s doing here in the US - he will enjoy helping out for several weeks and challenging young teens with Bible and missions early this fall.
We are so grateful for our mission family doctors in Papua New Guinea! And we're thankful for the opportunity to take care of some of these other medical needs while we're in the US, since we've spent so much time overseas the last 5 years. Thanks for praying for us as we deal with stuff and recover.
"But let all who take refuge in You rejoice;
Let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread Your protection over them,
That all who love Your name may be filled with joy."
Psalm 5:11
*By ‘lucky’ I actually mean ‘blessed’ because a) he’s not going through this procedure as a 50 year old and b) his parents paid for it.
**He made it back to work today! He's been full-time at the deli of a local grocery store this summer.
