6 weeks and counting...

Psalm 68:19 Praise the Lord; praise God our Savior! For each day He carries us in His arms. (NLT)

Last week a particularly busy day left me (Elizabeth) still feeling uptight and stressed out (when I should have been stumblingly sleepy). I picked up the little NLT Bible that I keep by my bedside, opened it to this verse - and was able to sleep! What an awesome truth to hold on to. There have been many, many times when simply the knowledge that so many are praying for us calms my heart and is sweet refreshment, over and beyond that!

We don't normally do a "day-by-day" for prayer requests, so I thought I'd do something different this week!

Monday, 6/25: MALARONE. Today we must ask our pediatrician to personally call the insurance company to request the anti-malarial drug Malarone for our children as the prescription is for our first 60 days on the field. (The insurance company asked for verification that we wouldn't be mis-using the drug (selling it on ebay, perhaps?!). This medication costs a little over a dollar per day per child, so we are asking for grace from the company! Please pray, too, that Nate and I will have wisdom to know if we should fill our prescriptions (480$ for 90 days) or use a less effective (but much cheaper) anti-malarial.

Tuesday, 6/26: SORTING. Tomorrow we leave to spend three weeks in Vacaville, and we want to take all our dregs (so to speak!) with us...our preschool box, our medicine boxes, the baby books, art supplies, DVD's and photo albums that we have moved from place to place must find permanent homes - either in our trunks that will travel with us or in our parent's homes. (They just love finding our bits and pieces left behind each time we go!) Decisions, decisions...please pray we will have wisdom and patience as we sort.

Wednesday, 6/27: GOODBYES. On our drive to Vacaville, we'll stop to eat a meal with Gavin and Kathy Huffmaster, who have been dear family friends since I was knee-high to a grasshopper! They are just one of many, many dear friends that we are beginning to say our goodbyes to. Please pray that our eyes would be fixed on His glory and on eternity as we say goodbye.

Thursday, 6/28: FAMILY! Thank God with us for our awesome families! We have been trying to plan special times to make lots of memories with grandparents and our extended families. We thank God for the great, godly parents He's given us. Please pray for them as they have times of grief as we prepare to go.

Friday, 6/29: VISAS. Please pray with us that the government officials of Papua New Guinea will begin work on our batch of visa applications. We expect that it will take about a month for the whole process, and we can't make firm travel plans until we receive our visas.

Saturday, 6/30: A JOB TO DO...We thank God that He has given us the ability to work! Nate's days have been filled with paperwork, communicating with our support team and churches and individuals who are interested in joining that team, and preparations for the field, in addition to helping with the needs we have around us. (My days are mostly filled with things like dishes and poopy diapers - and little boy hugs!) Today he'll be helping my dad lay new sod in my parent's front yard. We both are eagerly awaiting having the job of language learning to do!

Sunday, 7/1: OUR CHURCH HOMES. Thank God with us for the churches that have come alongside to send us out! It is hard to communicate the joy that it is to be with one of these churches and the many, many people who have personally committed to praying for us and sending us. We are praying that God will raise up several more churches to to take part in this with us.

We love you guys! Thank you, thank you for praying.
