Alright, on three we'll...
Sign posted where there used to be a camp for the Pal people on their way to town. Literal translation: ‘To all Pal People: There is no longer a place for you here. Some of you wronged us and were sent away. This order is from the land-owner and the community. All the shelters will be burned down.’
You have to wonder what our friends from Pal were thinking when they (according to a witness) all got out their bows and arrows and chased the man who had been a significant benefactor to them. We were shaking our heads yesterday as we tried to stop in and visit with some of the guys and were met instead by this sign. It reminded us again that our association with the Pal people has effects on our community relationships as what we do has consequences for them and what they choose to do has consequences for us…
You see, Peter*, the landowner, had previously offered the use of some his land for us to use as a backup landing spot for the helicopter… not so sure he’ll be all that willing to help the guys who are helping the guys who wanted to pincushion him. We’ll keep you posted as we try to smooth things out (at least on our end of things).
With less than a week left before our move-in, we are really in need of your prayers - the weather in Pal really needs to clear up. Our pilot, who has been operating about 20 miles away from Pal, let me know this morning that things really don’t seem to have changed too much up there (bad news). Please pray with us for a week of entirely clear, wind-free weather for our shuttles.
At the same time, would you take time to thank the Lord with us for the favor that He has granted us with the folks in Bunabun. They have given us free use of the field and are willing to have us use it whenever we need to (other than end of year exam times).
Thanks so much for praying with us.
