Dry Times
Not to be gross or anything, but one nice thing about the tropics is the fact that we rarely (if ever) experience the sensation of sandpaper in our sinuses. Upon our return to America, we became veritable grease junkies, applying lotions, lip salves, and copious amounts of steam to ourselves in an effort to stop the splits and fissures from turning our exteriors into something positively reptilian. Things have mostly normalized now (due to liberal applications of McDonald’s?) but we still are all working out the sinus issues. Not so shocking, but a bit of a surprise for us, was the dryness that we needed to work through spiritually as well. It seems that in the hubbub of commitments with family and sharing about the work, we have had to be just as intentional in our applications of spiritual lotions and salves as we’ve had to be with our skin. Here are some of the things that we would use your prayers for this week:
· Refreshment in the Word.
· Real relationships.
· Trying to decide when to do what things – even at 8 months, our time in the States feels short – maximizing connections and memory making with family and friends and continuing to do the work is a real balancing act.
· With all of the speaking and sharing, we’d like to be continuing to disciple the kids well.
More Language:
So last week, it was point and listen (something that a language learner does for months). This week, we’ll focus on something that begins at the same time – short useful phrases. In order to interact with those around us, we begin right away to say things like: ‘Good Morning.’ and ‘What is your name?’. Here is a short video of us trying to understand the Pal way of saying ‘What are we going to do (now)?’.
Hope you have a great week,
Thanks for praying for us.
