Walik's baby
My dear friend Walik…shown here shortly before the (stillborn) birth of her last baby
We had the joy of getting to connect with our partners, the Lockwood family, via their cell phone last week! The tower is finally working. They reported on their first weeks back in the village and passed on some community news.
Walik and her husband, Malemanj, would dearly love a child. She is pregnant and due to deliver any day now. They have had two babies die at birth or immediately after. Walik is a special lady who has spent time teaching Kim and I language. I wanted to ask you, praying friends, to pray for a safe and healthy delivery for her baby – and that it would result in glory given to God! Kim mentioned that Walik is talking about inviting her to the birth. If so, it will be the first time one of our church planting team attends a birth. Please pray for Kim as well, that the Lord will give her wisdom to know how to help with the birth if she is invited.
Pal women often have their husbands build little shelters just on the outskirts of the village for them to labor in. Babies are birthed on clean banana leaves and then carefully washed with water by the grandmother or mother-in-law. We have been delighted to visit our friends in these shelters and hold the babies and bring the gifts YOU all have blessed us with – blankets and onesies and soap. But we have not yet been invited to a birth itself. Thank you for praying that we will be able to wisely show the love of Jesus to our friends in Pal in this part of life.
Thank you! Elizabeth for the family

We've been praying for Walik at our prayer meetings and were wondering if you had heard how she is doing.
