Nate is very ill...

Dear praying friends,

We want to ask you to please pray for Nate.  He is very ill with malaria and he has multiple symptoms that his kidneys are struggling.   We have been watching and praying all day and have seen some slight improvements but also some concerning things appeared that continue to indicate kidney distress.  Our mission doctor has been so helpful as we’ve talked on the phone multiple times today.   I am thanking the Lord for cell phone coverage here at the ends of the earth!

Please pray that the Lord will heal Nate.  He is in intense pain.

We are praying that we will know clearly whether or not we should leave the tribe.  Our new co-workers, Chris and Maggie, just moved in 2 days ago and we are both sick at the thought of leaving them now.

All three of our kids also had malaria this week…go figure…about 3 weeks ago Nate and the boys took a ‘guys hike’ down to a lower elevation and we think they must have been bitten by the same friendly mosquitoes.  Up to this point, we have not needed malaria preventatives here in the mountains, but that may not be the case in the future.   All of our kids responded very well to the malaria treatment and their cycling fevers have improved daily.

We will try to let you know more tomorrow.
