news on Nate

Thank you all for praying. We made it out to our mission medical
clinic yesterday morning and immediately Nate was hooked up for IV
fluids and a battery of tests was begun.

His liver and kidney function were very compromised and we are very,
very glad that we came out. He has also continued to have intense
pain and has needed some pretty heavy duty pain meds to keep his
nausea and vomiting from the pain at bay. We spent the night in the
clinic and may be here tonight again as well. His fever continues to
cycle up and down through the day and night.

His vitals are all stable. At this point he hasn’t tested positive
for either malaria or dengue, but several signs point to a severe
tropical illness called dengue fever. If it is indeed dengue, there
is no treatment for it other than fluids and rest.

THANK YOU for all of your prayers and encouragement. We need them!
The boys and I are being cared for by many who are helping with meals
and childcare. I’ve been able to check in and spend time with them
several times a day and we have a house to stay in for Nate’s recovery
time. We thank God as well for the terrific medical staff who have
given of their weekend to care for us.

Pray that Nate’s intense pain and fever would resolve quickly.

Pray that I have strength to care for him and make sure our kid’s
needs are met as well.

Thank you!
Elizabeth
