Hunger

I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.   (Psa 119:81 NLT)

These young guys found space right behind where Chris was teaching.

Give us MORE!

When we finished the first lesson on Wednesday, we were excited by the many questions and apparent interest in what was said and how it impacted our friends. After a few minutes of questions though, people began to realize that that lesson was all we had planned for teaching that day. We heard responses like this:

  • What??? No way! We will just rest here a little, eat some food and go back inside for MORE!
  • Guys, we want to do at least two lessons every day!
  • We are ready, tell us the whole story.

Pray for us as we seek to balance our friends’ desires with the need to allow time for the Word of God to sink in and transform their hearts. (We have opted currently for doubling up on a few lessons that otherwise were fairly short.)

If you’ve adopted a Pal family to pray for during our teaching time, you might just recognize a face here. One elderly friend is recalling what Chris had said about prophets writing down God’s Word with the help of the pictures that we hang up.

I think I pulled a muscle… in my throat.

Over the last 4 days we have logged close to 24 hours of chatting with folks – specifically answering questions about the first lessons. Ladies have asked Elizabeth to help them recall what was said. (“My baby was crying and I missed that part.”) Guys have brought up questions like, “Where is heaven? Have you seen it with your eyes?” and “How can God do stuff without a body?” and many others. We are very happy for all the questions and time spent but could use some strength in our voices. Talking constantly has definitely taken its toll.

Pray that the Lord's message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.  (2Th 3:1 NLT)

A rainy day didn’t do much to dampen attendance. We are so thankful to the Lord for our friends’ excitement.

This week:

Monday: Nate will teach on creation. – How things were before there was anything and a walk through the Bible’s account of the first three days of creation. Emphasized in this lesson is that God didn’t need to make anything for Himself, He was just fine in His own strength.

Tuesday: Nate will teach on creation days 4-6. These lessons emphasize God’s knowledge and understanding. The diversity of His ability and His great power.

Wednesday: Nate will teach on the creation of  man and woman. Specifically we will be dealing with the difference between man and the animals (mind, will, and emotions). We will be introducing the idea that man and woman were made to commune with God.

Thursday: Nate will be teaching about the Garden of Eden. Specifically dealing with the fact that it was a good place, designed by God for man to be completely content there. We will set the stage for the Fall of Man by introducing the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We’ll be talking about what it means to be separated from God in that context as well.

Friday: Chris will take over and begin our lessons on the Fall of Man. He will be walking through the temptation and sin of  Eve and Adam.

Thanks so much for praying daily for our friends and for us.
