It is time.

The Pal missionary team. The Hostetters, the Fachners, and the Claasens. Working together to bring God’s good news to our Pal friends.

A long awaited day.

This week we will begin the next step of the work we are doing here in Pal; public careful teaching through the whole story of the Bible. Everyday for the past however many months we have been sweating away ironing out kinks, thinking through illustrations, and writing comprehension questions. All with the intent to bring the whole message as clearly as possible to our Pal friends.

Because this is so important a time for our friends we are making a special request – That you would pray daily for the teaching and the work of the Truth in their hearts. If it is tough to drop what you are doing in the middle of the day, would you consider praying at lunch (before we’d be meeting) and at dinner (shortly after we’d be finished) for our friends and for us.

We will be trying to keep you up to date on the lesson plans each week. Here is what our Pal friends will be hearing about:

Day 1: Worldview day. We will be showing maps and a timeline that will open up their eyes to the size (BIG) of the world and that there are and have been many many different peoples in different places. We’ll be introducing God’s Word as the authority and source of truth for us. We’ll be talking a bit about God and His eternal nature.

Day 2: God’s Character: What is this eternal God like? Can He be tricked? Can He be wrong? Where does He live? What kind of person is He? How can we know about Him?

Day 3: God made all the spirits and angels. In this lesson we establish God as the supreme ruler over the spirit world.  This is especially important in an animistic society. We emphasize the difference between spirits and God Himself.

Just three days this week, we’ll post more next week.

Issues that Come up.

Why pray with urgency? Take a look at the pictures below… these kinds of things are coming up with increasing frequency.

This is Seke, he fell out of a tree last week and we helped to medevac him to the hospital in town. He broke one leg and several bones in his back. He will be missing the teaching.

This is Nate’s primary translation helper and his family. His oldest son just broke his arm this week. Since there are no medical facilities close by, they will have to try to get him the 45 miles out to the nearest aid post with casting ability.

The man on the left here came to us the other day and said, “I was told that if I come to hear the teaching, God will kill me. Is that true?” A big thing that we constantly fight with is the weird lies and gossip that come up and skew how people understand us and our work. At least this man took the time to come and find out the truth for himself.

The man on the left in this picture is one of our community leaders. He has been called away during the first week of the teaching. He asked others from the community to accompany him to his large meeting and there really wasn’t much interest. We are hoping that he will continue to support the work (in spite of missing the first part) on his return.

These are just a few of the situations that have come up in the last few weeks. We so appreciate your prayers and support in these critical days.
