From a Mom's View
Tim is sick today - a fever/cold bug that hit Elias earlier this week. Right now he's holed up on the couch, too sick and miserable to sleep. I'm sure many of you reading this have had some kind of flu or another hit your family in the last month! So, health issues are on our minds. Tonight we'll be talking with our dear friends in Papua New Guinea about some issues related to malaria, and next week we'll be starting the rounds of immunizations and physicals needed for our visa applications. As a mom, I hate it when my kids are sick and I can't do anything to help! (Don't we all?) A friend of mine described her lowest point overseas: "When my son had been vomiting for several days and was unable to lift his head to throw up, I was ready to go home." From what we've heard from many families, it's pretty unusual for some rare tropical illness to strike - it's just that our immune systems have to work through all the cold and flu viruses that are found in different parts of the globe, and that often adds up to months of runny noses, fevers, and the like. A war of attrition, so to speak. Thank you for praying for us this week...
-for courage and faith for me (Elizabeth) in the area of illness for our kids.
-for patience as we jump through medical "hoops" (so to speak!) in preparation to go.
We are thanking God for several new opportunities to share about tribal church planting here in the Eureka area! He is the faithful One and we praise Him for His provision.
