God ordained connections...

Don't take that picture
John (on the left there), Mark, Winston, and Alfred were taking a break from Community Work Day. I think they were afraid that I was collecting evidence that would somehow get them in trouble. The fact is, I had been working alongside them for most of the morning (OK I was out-worked by them for most of the morning), and very much understood their desire for a little rest and nourishment. We were partners in the work - although each of us had our own section of work to do.

It has been much the same for me these last weeks, as I have been exposed to many new churches and diverse missions philosophies. I have been encouraged to realize that God moves His people - and gives them hearts for all aspects of His work. I have been encouraged once again to see diverse ministries and partners who are doing work that I cannot. We are focused on tribal church planting, yet we see the need for urban ministries, pregnancy care ministries, homeless shelters, community outreach, youth camps, health/humanitarian ministries, and many others.

Pray for us then, that God directs our steps. We don't want to try to somehow force tribal missions on a church that He has given another heart to (at the same time, we aren't giving up easily). Pray that He will give us the sense to see His provision and direction. We have confidence that He will provide just the right connections for us. Pray too tonight as we discuss plans with our partners - for unity of heart and mind.

Last night, Noah fell out of bed. I heard him cry, and went to investigate. By the time I got there, he was back in his bed and weeping softly to himself, "My bum, my bum, my bum." I made sure that nothing serious was wrong, tucked him back in and went back to bed. Later on in the night, Noah had a bad dream and cried out (It is unusual for him to even wake up at night). I went in and prayed and sang with him, and as I turned to go back to bed, Tim popped up from the depths of his pack-and-play saying loudly "My bum, my bum, my bum." Turns out all he wanted was a drink... ah the life of a parent.

** note for the uninitiated: bum is the term that we use for bottom.
