The Root of the Talk... and Grass Jelly Redux - Expanded Double Edition

The Root of the Talk

Just wanted to fill you all in on some exciting happenings this past week. Our partners have begun the 4-6 month process of teaching chronologically through the Bible with some of the guys who help us out here on the center. This is a great opportunity for the guys shown here (as well as some others) to hear what they call the root of the talk. The problem for them is that they have heard tons of different stories about what the Bible says - some true, some very not true - but they have no idea about the real story and meaning in scripture. They have no frame of reference or context with which to understand the stories that they hear. Over the next months they will be taught carefully through the Old Testament and the Gospels which will build for them a true picture of who God is, who Jesus is, why Jesus had to come to earth, and what that means for them. Please be praying for Alphonse, Ben, Manuel, Patrick, Lawrence, Sylvester, Wolfie, and Selmai. We too will be helping with the teaching until July when we must leave for our next assignment.

And now...What you have all been waiting for...
We had many responses to last week's challenge about Grass Jelly Drink. We totally cracked up when the responses started to pour in...you see, our research hadn't shown...well...we'll let you read a few of the responses...

"I looked up grass jelly and i see here (http://roushdat.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/la-mousse-noire-%E2%80%93-grass-jelly/) that it is good for INCREASING FERTILITY in women. Woohoo!! Way to go Elizabeth!! Can't wait to hear the good news!!
It also lowers your blood pressure, it cures colds, and helps to cure infections and relieve diabetes according to http://www.austinbushphotography.com/2006/06?cat=3"

"3 benefits of grass jelly:  cooling, fertility, fights diabetes (if consumed sans sugar), weight loss...citing @ roushdat. wordpress.com    You guys are soooo fun!  It can also be used to fight fever, prevent indigestion and lower high blood pressure..."

Just to set the record straight *we are not expecting and are not expecting to be expecting if you know what we mean*. Anyway, congratulations to Rose G. for posting the first response. Rose, are you sure you wouldn't settle for a can or two of Grass Jelly Drink? We actually made a short video of our consumption of the concoction which you can watch here: http://claasens.net/grass_jelly.wmv

Thanks for your prayers this week. Please remember the guys and the teaching - which happens at 7:00 pm Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday  - West Coast Time.

Nate for the Fam.
