Cause of Sickness

A father and a child

came to our house the other evening. The child was awake but  limp and listless in the father’s arms… here is the story that the father told me.

“When your child falls down in the bush and later feels sore or sick, then you know his spirit has left him.”

“You must go quickly to that place and call his spirit back to you. Entice it with some sugar cane”

“It will come back and land on the sugar cane. You’ll know because your hand will feel heavy.”

“Then you must take it carefully home and put it on your child’s chest. If you don’t do all this, he will die.”

Doing why you do.

Moving deeper into relationship with our friends has allowed us to begin to ask ‘why’ questions. Things don’t always make sense to us in our perspective, as in the story above. At the same time these things are firmly held beliefs – beliefs that can and will be confronted by the authority of the Word of God.

Ironically – our friends bold claims of strength in the spiritual realm often go hand in hand with a great fear of those things they hope to control.

Would you pray with us this week for:

·        Wisdom to meet the requests that are made of us

·        Strength to continue in the work

·        Patience as we are corrected again and again

·        Courage to take on new challenges

·        Speed as the workload in mounting

·        Health for our team as new issues are compromising our partner’s bodies.

In Grace,

Nate for the family
