In a perfect world we’d… but we don’t live in a perfect world do we?
Not sure if you have done this, but I have been thinking a bit lately about a perfect world. The problem is, that every time I imagine a layer of perfection to this world I am tempted to hope for some futuristic change that will somehow set the problems I see around me to rights. I guess every generation has done that (as if one-piece spandex suits and stainless steel everything were ever a good idea… thanks 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, but you can have those back.)
Today, in the shadow of two deaths in the village and significant health issues continuing for our partners, a longing for the ability to change that which I cannot struck me a near physical blow. I’m sure you have felt that same desire at times and I hope that you have been encouraged in the same way I have been, in a secure future – designed and built by someone who really knows how to do it.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. (Rev 21:3-6 ESV)
Hey, I think that thing just winked at me… two of the village kids trying to figure out my camera.
As if we thought we were enough for this before…
So, you can definitely be praying for us, that in everything we represent well the One who has brought us here and who promises to provide what we need when we need it.
Securely,
Nate for the family
PS: Few times have I ever blushed to the same level as I did when this week I accidentally said the Pal phrase for “Take me now!” in a public setting… really guys, I was only trying to figure out the grammar…
